FINE ARTS SEMINAR/ADVANCED PLACEMENT ART
In this mainly senior based studio course, students engage in artworks that promote a deeper understanding of a given topic. Some topics and processes are: Expressive portraits, abstract painting, experimentation with mixed media, large scale observational works based on lighting, and acrylic and gouache painting. Students in Advanced Placement Drawing or 2D Design create a series of 12 works on a visually compelling theme that they select. Students analyze artists and attend a museum exhibit as part of the course.
College credit for Fine Arts Seminar is available through the option of enrolling in the High School Scholars Program (formally known as S.C.A.L.E}, a Long Island University dual enrollment course in partnership with Lawrence High School.
